Amine Catalyst

C-8(DMCHA: Dimethyl cyclohexyl amine) is a
tertiary amine designed for use in a broad range of rigid polyurethane foams. The catalyst is a strong base and has a typical amine odor.
C-8 exhibits excellent blend stability and
solubility in a wide variety of rigid polyurethanepolyols and additives. It should be noted that C-8 is essentially insoluble in water .

˘şApplication Information
C-8 is useful in a great variety of rigid polyurethane applications from appliance to
polyurethane boardstock to spray to pour-in-place. The product demonstrates a preferred catalysis of the water/isocyanate reaction with a moderate catalysis of the polyol/isocyanate reaction. As a result of this selectivity, C-8 is a strong initiator of the foam reaction with moderate blow and a low contribution to gelation. Because of these attributes, C-8 is an effective initiator and flow catalyst for most rigid foam formulations.
C-8 may be used as the sole catalyst, but often a co-catalyst is employed. Recommended
use levels are from 0.5 to 3.5 part per hundred of polyol depending on the reaction profile and the physical properties desired.
